CPM-SPY27 is a state-of-the-art powder metallurgy steel that takes the time-tested performance of cobalt-enriched VG-10 and supercharges it with niobium, nitrogen, and increased volumes of carbon, molybdenum, and vanadium. The result is a purpose-designed blade material that offers an exceptional balance of edge retention, toughness, corrosion resistance, and ease of sharpening. Developed in close cooperation with Crucible Industries and proprietary to Spyderco, this American-made steel is now available in their iconic lightweight models manufactured in Japan. All these knives showcase the remarkable properties of CPM-SPY27 with ultra-keen full-flat ground blades. their satin-finished PlainEdge blades are paired with lightweight fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handles injection molded in a distinctive cobalt blue - one of the signature handle colors of the SPY27 family. All other features of these knives are faithfully consistent with the time-tested standard versions of each model.

This is a very well built knife

This is a very well built knife. Excellent spring action and the blade has been sharpened to point that is truly a sight to behold. Be careful when handling because even a glancing touch of the blade will slice your finger pretty easily.
