The Blackthorn is found throughout Ireland and the British Isles, and it has been prized for centuries as a material for premium walking sticks. The most well-known incarnation of the classic Blackthorn stick was the Irish Shillelagh – a tool that was so fearsome in trained hands that the English outlawed it! To circumvent this law, the Irish modified the Shillelagh into the classic walking stick that we are familiar with today. Cold Steel’s modern interpretation of this beautiful and historically significant walking stick is made from high impact polypropylene. It’s incredibly durable, and is easy to clean with a little soap and water.

Pretty Cool

Neat item, the bottom should have an anti slip surface but that’s easy to remedy. Will use it for hiking and battling martians and other creatures as needed…. Hoping the durability is good on this. Would recommend.

I walk a lot on uneven ground. My walking staff is too long to take into a restaurant or bar. The stick is stick is great for those purposes. I had to modify the stick by drilling a hole near the top so as to allow a piece of Paracord that could be tied allowing the stick to hang on a coat hanger, especially in the pub. May not be traditional, but certainly is functional I have had many comments on the uniqueness of such a thing. I also friction fitted a rubber end because I found the wet stick slippery on some surfaces.
