Differential Tempered Winter Sun Samurai
You asked for it and now you have it. The Winter Sun Katana now features a differentially harded blade with a length of 30 1/2" by demand. Keeping all the desired features of the original through-tempered high carbon steel verison, a visible hamon ripples down the blade. The tsuba again features the snow-flakes, again by popular demand.
The macaque (Japanese snow monkeys) know survival requires communal support. Our Winter Sun Katana mirrors the cold reality of the darkest days of the year on the tsuba (guard) and menuki. The blackened tsuba, fuchi, tsuka-ito and fuchi-kashira contrast the real white same (rayskin) handle and the black textured lacquered saya.
The 5160 forged high-carbon steel blade features a 1 ½" kissaki (point) and blade geometry conducive to rigorous cutting without chipping or deformation on soft and semi-hard targets.
Please note: the katana, wakizashi or tanto’s sageo (cord) on the saya (scabbard) may not be wrapped as pictured.
